How to send a HTML email

Dragon Email Designer generates source code that can be used with any email delivery tool that accepts HTML. Depending on your needs, there are many options (both free and paid). This is a list of tools suggested by our users. Please
contact us if you wish to add feedback or suggest new tools to be added to this list.

Mac Mass Mailer - paid app with free trial, supports responsive layout

1. Export email design from Dragon Email Designer. Open the exported zip file, you will see a source file in HTML format and a folder containing embedded images used in the design.

2. From Mac Mass Mailer, open the "Message Editor" section and set the drop-down selection for "Body" to "HTML"

3. Drag and drop the HTML source file from step 1 into the message editor

4. If your mail design contains embedded images, drag and drop images from the image folder into the message editor

Airplane - HTML mail sender - available on the Mac App Store, supports responsive layout

1. Export email design from Dragon Email Designer. Open the exported zip file, you will see a source file in HTML format and a folder containing embedded images used in the design.

2. Copy and paste source code from the exported HTML file into the "HTML Body (Main Content)" field in Airplane.

3. If your mail design contains embedded images, attach images from image folder

Serial Mailer - paid app with free trial, supports responsive layout

When using Serial Mailer, we find it’s easiest to export the design and use the “Import HTML File” option, this automatically links embedded images. Please see steps below:

1. Export mail design from Dragon Email Designer and open exported zip file. The default export settings will output a folder named “
MailDesignExport”, this folder will contain the mail HTML file and a subfolder containing images used in the email design.

2. Launch Serial Mailer, create a new email and go to the “Message” tab

3. Choose “Import” > “HTML File”

4. Follow instructions from Serial Mailer and choose the
parent folder containing the exported mail files. In our example here, this is the folder named “MailDesignExport”.

5. Choose “Preview” tab to review design has been properly imported. If the email design contains images, all images should be showing in preview.
Campaign Monitor - paid service with free trial, supports responsive layout

To use your email design with Campaign Monitor, please see steps below:
1. Export email design from Dragon Email Designer. Open the exported zip file, you will see a source file in HTML format and a folder containing images used in the design. Keep the HTML file separate and zip the folder containing images, let’s name the newly created zip file “images.zip”.

2. From your Campaign Monitor account, go to “Create a new campaign”, name your new campaign and choose “Next”.

3. Select “Import from my computer” (default option), under “HTML page”, choose the exported HTML file from step 1.

4. Under “All other images and CSS files in ZIP format”, please choose “images.zip” created in step 1.

5. Choose “Import”.
MailChimp - offers both free and paid options, supports responsive layout

To use your email design with MailChimp, please see steps below:
1. Export email design from Dragon Email Designer. The exported zip file contains all your design layout and photos, it is now ready for input to MailChimp, no further changes is needed.

2. From your MailChimp account, go to “Templates” >”Create Template” > “Code your own” > “Import zip” and choose the zip file exported from Dragon.
Tools that accept HTML but do not support responsive layout

Dragon generates responsive HTML emails, Apple Mail does not support sending responsive layouts at this time. For email designs optimized for distribution through Apple Mail, please see our sibling app, Awesome Mails Pro.

To send your email from Apple Mail, please see steps below:
1. Export email design from Dragon and open exported zip file, launch the HTML file in Safari
2. Once the email design is opened in Safari, please select and copy the design by going to “Edit > Select All” from the Safari menu and then “Edit > Copy”
3. Launch Apple Mail, create a new mail, paste in the HTML copied

Please note, Apple Mail:
- does not support responsive layout
- does not support responsive image layouts. Instead of using embedded images, we recommend adding HTML tags for remotely hosted images.
To send your email from Thunderbird, please see steps below:
1. Export email design from Dragon and open exported zip file, open the HTML source code in a plain text editor, copy all source code.
2. Launch Thunderbird, create a new mail, go to “Insert Menu > HTML...” and paste in the HTML copied

Please note, Thunderbird:
- does not support responsive layout
- does not support built-in images. Instead of built-in images, we recommend adding direct links to hosted images.
To send your email from Outlook for Mac, please see steps below:
1. Export email design from Dragon and open exported zip file, launch the HTML file in Safari
2. Once the email design is opened in Safari, please select and copy the design by going to “Edit > Select All” from the Safari menu and then “Edit > Copy”
3. Launch Outlook, create a new mail, paste in the HTML copied

Please note, Outlook for Mac:
- does not support responsive layout
